Fair tea price is a problem : CISTA India

Small Tea Growers in India is accounting for almost 30 % of the total tea production in the country. According to The Tea Board of India , small tea growers is a tea farmer who has a tea plantation of up to 25 acres. But in reality , very few people are having more than two acres of cultivable land.

Like in all other business, they suffers from the continuous problem.Their number is large. Shortage of working capital, dependence on exploitative trade channels, low levels of technical knowledge and business skills, lack of awareness about government support and abysmal representation at local and national level become serious block in their healthy growth.

I had met Confederation of Indian Small Tea Growers Association  (CISTA)  Bijoy Gopal Chakraborty when I was in the exhibition venue during World Tea and Coffee Expo in Mumbai. As I came to know about CISTA  struggle in getting fair prices for small tea growers, I requested to speak before the Lokibuzz.com camera. I am sharing a portion of the interview.
